  • How do I apply for MORE 2020?
Applications for MORE 2020 will be given full consideration prior to 11:50 pm on Sunday, September 13, 2020. The application form can be found on the Application Page.

  • How and when will I be notified if I am selected?
We will notify applicants via email no later than Friday, September 18, 2020.

  • What is my anticipated cost for the virtual conference?
Thanks to generous support from the NSF, there is no cost to attend the fall conference.

  • What is the optional event on Sunday, September 27?
Women mathematicians, BIPOC mathematicians, LGBTQ mathematicians, and others who are historically excluded from mathematical sciences programs are also underrepresented on Wikipedia, both as subjects of articles and as editors/authors of articles. This is important because if young aspiring mathematicians do not know that people like them can succeed in mathematics, then they are less likely to pursue careers in mathematics, and the cycle continues.

On Sunday, September 27, interested participants will receive hands-on training about editing and creating Wikipedia articles with the goal of increasing representation on both these fronts. At the end of the session, successful participants will know the steps required to edit and create Wikipedia articles, will have edited multiple Wikipedia articles, and, time permitting, will have started a new Wikipedia article. Participants will also learn about communities of Wikipedians they can join to continue this work in the future.

  • Can faculty members participate in the workshop?
Accompanying faculty are welcome and may attend the lectures and panel discussions. The remaining activities are designed for undergraduates only. Please contact us at MORE.math.opportunities@gmail.com if you plan to attend.

  • What if I have other questions?
